AN EXPERIENCE OF CORPORATE VOLUNTEERING: KEURIG'S TESTIMONY

Julie Arcand and her colleague during the Fête des Volunteers, to represent Keurig, partner of volunteer recognition.

In order to support its community support programs, Keurig Canada, a company established in the Saint-Michel district, has set up a volunteer program called CAFE (community, action, flexibility, commitment), the operation of which is supported by a group of employees called CAFE Ambassadors. The CAFE Ambassadors program brings together employees from all departments who act as “brokers”, communicating volunteer opportunities to their teams and encouraging participation.

Julie Arcand, major account manager at Keurig Canada, wanted to do something to help, particularly in terms of homelessness. Inspired by the approach and history of Accueil Bonneau, whose meal program relies mainly on the help of volunteers, Julie began volunteering by serving meals.

As CAFE Ambassador, Julie shared the volunteer opportunity with her colleagues and created an official partnership between Keurig and Accueil Bonneau. During 2016, approximately 50 employees volunteered for the organization, accumulating more than 550 hours of volunteer time.

"When my colleagues saw what Reception was doing, they were touched by the compassion of the organization and they wanted to help," says Julie. The added benefit of the volunteer project is that it helps employees understand the causes, misconceptions and solutions of the complex cause of homelessness. "

Julie is passionate about her role as CAFE Ambassador: "I feel very grateful to participate in the program. It’s wonderful to be able to help people get involved in causes that matter to them. ”

“We are very grateful for the support and compassion that CAFE volunteers bring to the people we help every day. An organization like ours could not function without the help of organizations like yours! Your warm smiles give hope for a better future, "said Aubin Boudreau, Executive Director of Accueil Bonneau.
